Home State Bank of Jefferson has been selected to receive the Friend of Extension Award from the Southwest Region in Iowa. This award recognizes a non-Extension (lay) person, business, or organization for truly outstanding support and personal involvement in Extension efforts.
Home State Bank is a great example of this. Iowa State Extension and Outreach- Greene County and Home State Bank has worked together through partnerships for more than 60 years. With the same goal in mind, the two community partners work side-by-side in supporting our community. Some examples of Home State Bank’s impact have been through supporting agricultural programming, Greene County Fair, 4-H Fundraisers, and marketing the Extension programming.
Every year Home State Bank has sponsored Extension’s Ag Coffees and private pesticide applicator trainings by providing notepads, pens, water and financially contributing to the program. Staff from Home State Bank also attend these meetings to become more knowledgeable and prepared to help the community.
During the Greene County Fair, Home State Bank provides water to the public, livestreaming, 4-H shirts for all youth, helps judge various events, and much more. Not only does Home State Bank donate an estimated $10,000 a year through Greene County Extension partnerships, but several bank employees are 4-H leaders, superintendents, have youth in our program, or participate in Extension programming.
“Home State Bank makes a difference through Extension by providing support through sponsorships, marketing, advocating for 4-H and agriculture to our community, and most importantly, helping us on our journey to reach all Iowans. Greene County Extension is proud to continue working with Home State Bank and honor them with this award for their continued support and dedication to our community,” an Extension spokesperson said.
Greene County Extension thanked Home State Bank for its continued support and dedication to the Greene County community.
